Giving ulos is a very important traditional activity for the Batak people. In every activity such as wedding ceremonies, births, and mourning, ulos is always a part of the custom that is always included
Ulos hqs become an important item and needed by everyone anytime and anywhere. Until finally because ulos has a high value in the midst of the Batak Community. Rules for the use of ulos were made as outlined in customary rules, including :
Ulos is only given to relatives who are below us. For example, parents to children.
The Ulos given must be in accordance with the relatives to be given ulos.
For example, Ulos Ragihotang is given for ulos to son in law.
